
It is not, however, evidence that a growing category reliably improves cognition, work output, or mental health for an individual employee.
The distinction matters. “Neurodiverse productivity” is becoming a procurement label for software that can affect attention, communication, task sequencing, and the visibility of work patterns inside an organisation.
A market forecast is not a clinical outcome
The release estimates growth from $0.84 billion in 2026 at a 15.0% compound annual rate through 2030. It attributes the expansion to employer interest in inclusion and wellbeing, cloud productivity platforms, hybrid work, assistive technology, and AI-driven personalisation.
Its proposed product direction is familiar: adaptive assistants, workflow customisation, focus-management systems, automated meeting transcription and summaries, and interfaces combining text, voice, and visual input.
These functions may reduce friction in a specific workflow. That is a narrower claim than “enhancing productivity” across a workforce. A transcription tool can lower communication latency after a meeting. A task interface can make prioritisation more explicit. Neither function establishes a universal effect on executive function, dopaminergic baseline, burnout, or long-term performance.
The evidence threshold should remain task-specific: what problem is the tool intended to reduce, and what measurable change follows?
The hidden variable is implementation
Tools designed for cognitive accessibility can be useful only when their use is voluntary, configurable, and compatible with the person’s working context. An automated summary may improve access for one employee while misrepresenting another person’s contribution. A focus system can reduce notifications; it can also become another surveillance layer if an employer turns usage data into a performance metric.
The broader AI-productivity conversation already carries adoption concerns. MSN’s headline on AI workflow tools explicitly points to challenges alongside reshaped work processes. That is the relevant constraint on the forecast: deployment is not the same as adoption, and adoption is not the same as benefit.
For workers, the central question is not whether a platform is marketed as neurodiversity-supportive. It is whether it changes the actual bottleneck: ambiguous instructions, meeting overload, fragmented task queues, inaccessible communication, or distraction-heavy digital environments.
What to verify before opting in
Before agreeing to use an employer-provided tool, request the operational details in writing:
- Data boundaries: What does the system collect from meetings, calendars, messages, keystrokes, or task histories? Who can access it?
- Purpose limitation: Is the output for the employee’s own workflow, or can it be used in performance evaluation?
- Disclosure controls: Does use require a person to reveal a diagnosis, cognitive profile, or accommodation need?
- Configurability: Can notifications, summaries, interface modes, and automation be adjusted—or disabled—without penalty?
- Error handling: How are inaccurate transcripts, summaries, or automated recommendations corrected?
- Exit conditions: Can the employee stop using the tool, export relevant work, and have personal settings or data removed?
The market forecast signals that more of these products are coming. It does not resolve their core test. A productivity tool earns its place when it reduces a defined source of cognitive load without creating a new one through data exposure, rigid defaults, or managerial overreach.
